This is the 4th part in my series on the best advice I’ve received. Friends, we have arrived at #1 in the countdown. Drumroll please…
The best piece of advice I’ve ever received is:
Build a life from which you don’t need a vacation.
(I’ll add that I strongly support taking vacations anyway…😉)
But how do you create a life from which you don’t need a vacation?
For some it might involve moving or changing jobs. But for most of us, it’s simply making each day a little more pleasant.
We can engage in activities we love and with people we love. We can be a Daymaker for each person we meet. And we can spend time recharging ourselves.
When I imagine building a life from which I don’t need a vacation, I think of two things: joy and humor.
These are the two qualities I hold in mind when I write my Mom Flies Solo posts. And I’m working on new ways I can share what I value most.
If you are reading this, you already engage your sense of humor and make time for joy in daily life. And, in tribute to Garrison Keillor, I am convinced that all of my readers are smart, good looking and above average. 😉
Have a great week and may your daily life and your vacation life get a little more similar each day.
