Won’t You Be My Neuro-Spicy Valentine?

Last week, writer Sarah Dickinson (of The Nerdy Quill) introduced me to a new term: neuro-spicy. I love it even more than “neurodiverse” and oh-so-much more than “neurodivergent.” In fact, I love it so much that I’m appropriating it for all things relating to my son and to others whose brains function differently than what we describe as “neurotypical.”

A week from today, the book that will be under my Valentine’s tree (how is that now a thing?) is one that I already love because it positively affirms multiple types of diversity. The beautiful illustrations (I ❤️ Charly Palmer) and tenderly-written text by Aliya King Neil transport us inside of the world of a boy who is trying his best to succeed and struggling to meet expectations.

I recommend it for all kids: those who need empathy for themselves and those who need empathy for others. You can find it at Amazon or your local retailer. (Here is an aff link that won’t cost you any extra but will help support this blog: https://amzn.to/40NiEyS
